Make no mistake, I really admire Christophe Decarnin's magic in giving the Balmain house a new lease of life, but I really think it's time he rocked some new ideas. I loved the rock 'n' roll aesthetic when he first showcased it a few collections ago, but now I'm yearning for something new.

These are not all from the same collection, but you could easily think they were.

Bottega Veneta has always been one of my most anticipated shows during Milan fashion week. The style of the clothes are always so elegant and refined, especially in contrast to the other often more 'sexy' looks from the other Italian fashion houses. Always a beautiful collection.

I admire couture as a form of art, and I respect it as an outlet for designers' creative ideas, but I've always liked clothes in my closet that I can actually wear. Couture is usually fashion fantasy for me, but suprisingly amongst the many grand designs showcased this season, I found a few pieces I wish could be fashion reality.

Absolutely divine dresses at Elie Saab, and Alexis Mabille surprised me half-way through the show.

Exams are finally over, but now application season has started; it's like one non-stop roller coaster.

I feel like I definitely deserve to treat myself after all this hard work though, so I'm taking inspiration from the beautiful Freja Beha Erichsen. I love her androgynous style and she just knows how to make monochrome outfits work. Definitely time to re-invest in some more black basics......

I'm a little bit addicted to Julia Restoin Roitfeld. She always picks such simple, classic pieces, yet manages to look incredibly sexy and fun. Although she's now based in New York, she's truly Parisian at heart.
I'm pretty envious of her shoe collection too.

I'm up to my eyes in Law books revising for up-coming exams at the moment, but looking through old collections is proving a welcome release to keep my mind sane. I know fashions need to evolve and change...but sometimes when they're this good...you wonder what's the point in changing. A serious reason why winter fashions are so dear in my heart...

If I owned one of Stella McCartney's F/W2007 cosy patterned hoodies...I'd pretend it was winter all year round.

This stylish lady has been appearing all over street-style sites for quite a while now, and only recently have I been able to put a name to a face. Barbara Martelo. Unsurprisingly - given her incredible taste - she's a stylist for Vogue Espagne. I'll be looking out for her editorials in the future...

I've been obsessed with Rick Owens and Helmut Lang for a couple of years now, but recently I've found myself obsessing over their designs more and more. I just adore their aesthestics; so dark, so rock 'n' roll yet so chic. Also, the cut of their jackets are just too amazing...everytime I come across one, I just have to try it on. Looking forward to picking up a couple of their pieces as new additions to my wardrobe for the coming year...

All the coverage of Paris Fashion Week is really making me miss my old stomping ground; the Marais. Perfect weekends would be spent rummaging in Free 'p' Star for interesting vintage finds, meeting friends for sushi on the rue de la Verrerie followed by gelati from Amorino, and then endless hours spent people watching whilst sipping a noisette at one of the many cafes there.

Don't get me wrong, London is amazing, but Paris Fashion Week always makes me miss my old life in Paris.

I've not had much time to blog recently as term has just started for law school and the workload is really really intense. I seem to be spending most of my time studying at the moment; my head buried in the books. And when I'm not studying, I'm sorting things out for the new apartment, but I promise to find some time to get back to blogging soon.
I'm super excited that Autumn is coming though. Winter outfits are just so much more interesting than summer ones. I get to layer up and max out on my love of black.

I should really be starting to pack for the move, but it's made me realise that first, I need to de-clutter my wardrobe (read into that: life). I've decided I really need to streamline my clothes so I'm purging everything that's not black, white, navy blue, nude or shades of grey. I need to go back to basics. Simple. Classic. Less is definitely more. Taking my inspiration from the ever chic Kate Lanphear.

New apartment - yay! Preparations are afoot

Just bought my own apartment in London, and preparing to move into the new space next week. On top of that, Law School starts in two weeks and I'm only half way through the introductory reading, so everything is kind of happening all at once. I should really really learn to stop doing things so last minute. I can't wait to get back to the bustle of city life and keep you up to date on everything that happens!
